Join us at the 2016 African-American Philanthropy Summit

Join us for the 2016 Cleveland Foundation African-American Philanthropy Summit, presented by Medical Mutual on Saturday, April 23, at Corporate College East in Warrensville Heights.

This year’s summit: “Impact & Influence: The Evolution of African-American Giving,” celebrates existing philanthropists and provides tools and insight to inspire those interested in charitable giving.

What to Expect

We’re calling it our “Giving Caucus”– it’s part of our lineup of Greater Cleveland Caucus events.

And our keynote speaker is someone who knows about caucusing! Donna Brazile is a veteran political strategist, author, adjunct professor, columnist and commentator. She has worked on every presidential campaign from 1976 to 2000, when she became the first African-American to manage a presidential campaign.

Morning speaker Jeff Johnson is an award-winning journalist and president of the Baltimore-based strategy firm JIJ Communications. A Cleveland native, Johnson provides strategic insight to clients in private, public and nonprofit sectors.

Finally, attendees will enjoy “Philanthropy Tank,” modeled after the popular television show “Shark Tank,” where nonprofits will have the opportunity introduce their cause, build a case for support and win cash prizes to further their mission.

Meet the AAPC

This biennial summit is brought to you by the Cleveland Foundation African-American Philanthropy Committee (AAPC), created in 1993 to raise the visibility of African-American philanthropy in our region.

Members of the Committee (see photo above!) collectively support the Cleveland Foundation’s mission to build community endowment, address needs through grantmaking and provide leadership on key community issues.

The AAPC established the African-American Philanthropy Committee Legacy Fund in 2010 to support a variety of organizations with in the African-American community of Greater Cleveland.
