I’m excited to spend my summer working for Asian Services in Action Inc. (ASIA), a culturally diverse organization that offers a multitude of services to the community. ASIA strives to empower and advocate for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPIs), and to provide AAPIs and other communities access to high-quality culturally and linguistically appropriate information, health resources and social services. ASIA is the largest AAPI-focused health and social service 501(c)(3) agency in the state of Ohio. For 20 years, the organization has taken on the most challenging tasks to help the underserved, low-income, and immigrant communities.
With a new logo and re-branding effort to create a more modern and refreshed look for the organization, ASIA’s Policy, Advocacy, & Development (PAD) department has been quite busy this summer. My main project is taking the lead on their marketing refresh campaign. I am updating program brochures with the new logo and making them look cohesive with the ASIA brand. It’s exciting to be a part of this process and I enjoy learning more about all the programs and services ASIA offers. In addition to keeping marketing materials current and consistent, I also post on the organization’s social media platforms and create content for their website. In November, ASIA is hosting their 20th Anniversary Gala & Fundraiser | Legacy of Service. In preparation for the event, I’m attending committee meetings and soliciting donations from businesses across Cleveland.
Through my work at ASIA I’m constantly learning new things, developing professional skills, and learning more about my field of study and how it can be applied to the nonprofit sector. I’ve also gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for ASIA and all the programs it offers. The employees here give so much of their time to ASIA and their commitment to serving the community is riveting. In the two months I’ve been here, I’ve witnessed ASIA grow, and I can’t wait to see where this remarkable organization is headed.
